About

Welcome to French Sider – a blog built from real experience, and designed to help anyone moving to France or dreaming of a smoother French life.

Who am I?

My name is Tanvir Hasan Mahi, now living in Saint-Lô, Normandy, for more than 1.5 years. Originally from Bangladesh, I moved to France as a teenager, and I know exactly how confusing and overwhelming life can feel when you’re new in this beautiful country.

From figuring out how to settle, understanding French culture, learning the language, and even adjusting to daily life — I’ve been through it all. And now, I want to make your journey easier.

That’s why I created French Sider.

What is French Sider?

French Sider is more than just a blog. It’s your personal guide to:

  • Moving to France

  • Adapting to French culture

  • Living daily life as an expat or foreigner

  • Tips and tricks for making life easier in France

Whether you’re planning to move, just arrived, or already living in France — this site is for you.

Why “French Sider”?

Because I’m living on the side of French life — not just as a visitor, but also not born here. I’m learning, adapting, and sharing the side of France you don’t often see. That honest, everyday experience is what makes this blog different.

So when someone says, “I need help with life in France,” I want them to think French Sider.

What You’ll Find on the Blog

  • Moving Tips: Visas, housing, paperwork, and settling in
  • Real Life Stories: What it’s really like to live in France
  • Cultural Guides: From French habits to holidays and traditions
  • Personal Experience: The good, the hard, and the helpful

Everything I share is from my experience, written in simple language, and designed to save you time, money, and confusion.
